Lung Cancer Alliance Announcement: "Lung Cancer Alliance Launches LungMATCH to Connect Patients to Life-Saving Treatments"

October 25, 2016 - Today, Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) is excited to announce LungMATCH, a free, comprehensive program designed to help lung cancer patients and loved ones find and understand the personalized treatment options available for them. This effort seeks to double the current estimated less than 5% patient participation rate for lung cancer trials which are an essential part of developing life-saving treatments.

“This is an exciting day for lung cancer patients who have long sought viable options at all stages of their treatment,” said Jennifer King, Director of Science and Research, Lung Cancer Alliance. “Trials are routinely delayed or closed due to difficulty in finding patients to participate and this effort will hopefully help bridge that gap and get people involved. Participating in a clinical trial not only helps the person fighting the disease; it can potentially benefit future patients as well.”

The central component of LungMATCH is an online platform that uses natural language processing, artificial intelligence and medical annotators to make it easier than ever before for lung cancer patients to find the most appropriate clinical trial options for them.

Powered by Antidote, an innovative digital health company, this new platform streamlines the clinical trial search process. Patients answer a series of questions online about their lung cancer and medical history and then receive a customized list of available trials.

"Speeding up the development of new cancer treatments is a mission that affects all of us," says Sarah Kerruish, Chief Growth Officer at Antidote. "And whether you are a doctor, a patient, or someone who has a friend or loved one with cancer, this is a problem we can all help solve by making sure all patients know about their opportunities to take part in the front line of cancer research."

LungMATCH also provides telephone based clinical trial and treatment navigation from our professionally trained staff who walk you through the process of finding a clinical trial and answering your questions about available treatments. Through LungMATCH patients will also receive customized educational packages with information on the treatments and trials right for them.
